Evaporators for snow-melting agent production are specialized equipment customized for the evaporation and concentration of high-salinity mother liquors from chloride-based (sodium chloride, calcium chloride, magnesium chloride) or organic snow-melting agents. They fundamentally address the industry pain points of easy scaling, strong corrosion, and continuous production in high-salt systems, and adapt to the full-process requirements of snow-melting agents from feed liquor concentration to crystallization and salt output.
Forced circulation evaporators or MVR evaporators are preferred, while falling film evaporators should be avoided—the mother liquor of snow-melting agents has high salt content and easily precipitates crystals, so falling film tubes are highly susceptible to blockage by salt crystals. Forced circulation evaporators rely on high-speed circulating flow (1.5-2.5 m/s) to scour the heat exchange tube walls, preventing salt scale deposition at the source and enabling more than 720 hours of continuous blockage-free operation.
Snow-melting agent mother liquors contain large amounts of chloride ions, and ordinary 304 stainless steel will quickly suffer pitting corrosion and perforation. 316L stainless steel must be selected as the base material; for high-concentration calcium chloride/magnesium chloride systems, an upgrade to 2205 duplex steel or TA2 titanium is required, and the inner walls of heat exchange tubes should be mirror-polished (Ra≤0.8μm) to further reduce the probability of salt scale adhesion.
Single-effect evaporators consume about 120 kWh/t, double-effect evaporators about 60 kWh/t, while MVR evaporators require only 25-40 kWh/t, with energy savings exceeding 60%. This makes them the main choice for large-scale snow-melting agent production, significantly reducing operating costs per ton of product.
