First Prize for Environmental Technology Progress: Solving Urban Overflow with In-Situ Capacity Expansion

Since 2020, CSD Water Service has forward-lookingly made overflow pollution control a core strategy, jointly building an R&D center with Tsinghua University. Progressing along a path of technological innovation, pilot verification, engineering demonstration and scaled application, the company has completed core patent portfolio development and technical appraisal while actively promoting industry standard development.

The China Environmental Protection Industry Association recently announced the 2025 Environmental Technology Progress Award list. The project on key technologies and application of urban wastewater overflow pollution control based on in-situ capacity expansion, completed by CSD Water Service as the lead unit together with Tsinghua University, Bohuite and Wenhua Environment, stood out and won first prize.

The technology system innovatively proposes an in-situ capacity expansion treatment route. Through independently developed core technologies such as heavy-media loaded rapid separation, it achieves full-process coverage of overflow pollution from rapid reduction to high-efficiency purification for the first time. It addresses prominent problems such as insufficient wet-weather capacity at wastewater treatment plants and seasonal exceedances at river sections.
