Civil works are accelerating on the Haichuan Water Phase III project in Haimen Port Economic Development Zone. The civil structures are built for 50,000 m3/d in one pass with equipment first-phase fitted at 25,000 m3/d, alongside a 32,000 m3/d reclaimed water reuse system. Total plant capacity will rise to 80,000 m3/d, enabling separate treatment of industrial and domestic wastewater.

Construction of the Haichuan Water Phase III project in Haimen Port Economic Development Zone is in full swing, with tower cranes and heavy machinery on site and more than 200 workers racing to advance foundation works during the peak construction window. According to Haichuan Water, the civil structures are designed for 50,000 m3/d in a single build, with first-phase equipment configured at 25,000 m3/d and a companion 32,000 m3/d reclaimed water reuse system. Once operational, the total plant capacity will rise to 80,000 m3/d, enabling separate treatment of industrial and municipal wastewater for the park.

With key enterprises including Lima Textile, Tyson and Xingwang commencing or expanding production, the combined 30,000 m3/d capacity of phases I and II is saturated. Under provincial and municipal policies on classified and separated treatment of industrial wastewater, phase III is both a hard requirement and a strategic move.

Unlike earlier phases, phase III serves industrial wastewater exclusively and adopts a one-enterprise-one-pipe collection model, achieving source-separated collection and treatment. A flexible approach of grouped design with staged equipment deployment puts all civil works in place once while equipment is phased on demand, meeting the schedule of key tenants while reserving ample capacity for future growth. Intelligent control systems and variable-frequency energy-saving equipment are specified for operation.

The co-built reclaimed water system targets a 40 percent reuse rate and operates on two tiers: high-end industrial reuse preferentially serving production processes, and general reuse for municipal and ecological water replenishment. The phase III works comprise 21 separate structures; to date, excavation is complete on 15, with foundation works under way on 10, raft slab pouring finished on five, and one further unit being excavated.
