Luzhou Shidong Baijiu Wastewater Treatment Plant (Phase I, 3,000 m³/d)

Location: Yongyuan Village, Shidong Subdistrict, Longmatan District, Luzhou, Sichuan. The plant covers about 50 mu (approx. 3.3 ha) and is invested in and operated by Luzhou Xinggang Environmental Protection Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Xinglu Water Group, with total investment of about CNY 150 million. It is a dedicated centralised treatment facility for the local baijiu (Chinese liquor) industry, primarily serving distilleries in Longmatan District and absorbing surplus flows from neighbouring areas when capacity allows. Capacity is planned at 6,000 t/d in two phases; the current phase delivers 3,000 t/d, the largest liquor wastewater plant in central Luzhou. (An earlier Xinglu Water Group statement quoted a 10,000 m³/d master plan; this entry follows the completion notice's 6,000 t/d figure and the 3,000 t/d actually built.) Process: pre-treatment + anaerobic UASB + two-stage AO + chemical phosphorus removal + filtration. Distillery wastewater is high in organics and readily biodegradable; pre-treatment removes debris and equalises flow, the UASB reactor degrades most of the organic load while producing biogas, and two-stage AO polishes nitrogen and residual organics before phosphorus removal and filtration. Effluent meets Table 2 (indirect discharge) of GB27631-2011 and is sent via the municipal sewer to the Chengdong wastewater treatment plant. Biogas from the anaerobic stage is desulphurised, decarbonised and purified before being fed into the natural gas grid; waste gas collection and sludge handling systems are also installed. The plant passed completion acceptance on 28 October 2025, three months ahead of the commissioning target, having already received about 21,000 tonnes of distillery wastewater. Annual reductions are estimated at about 31,140 tonnes of COD and 423 tonnes of ammonia nitrogen. Unit operating cost, annual gas injection volumes and design parameters of individual units have not been publicly disclosed and are left blank.
