Shenzhen Pingshan IC Base Wastewater Reclamation Demonstration Project (Phase I, 10,000 m³/d)

Project overview Phase I of the Pingshan IC Base wastewater reclamation demonstration project is located in Longtian Subdistrict, Pingshan District, Shenzhen, next to the district's integrated-circuit cluster. It is a dedicated industrial wastewater facility built for the IC industry, constructed by the municipal engineering company of China Railway No.4 Engineering Group for owner Shenzhen Pingshan Huanshui IC Wastewater Treatment Co. Phase I treats 10,000 m3/d, with 16,006.76 m2 of gross floor area over a 7,480.60 m2 base slab. Production structures sit in a buried box, with an administration building and gatehouse above ground; effluent is polished in a constructed wetland and reused as landscape water for the Pingshan River. Process Published accounts describe a "deep treatment + constructed wetland polishing + landscape reuse" train: fluoride-bearing wastewater from upstream IC plants is piped to an equalisation tank, treated in the buried box, and discharged to a constructed wetland; the polished water supplements the Pingshan River. This cascading "treat - polish - recharge" model is Pingshan's approach to environmental infrastructure for the IC industry, and the box layout keeps the footprint small in a land-scarce urban fringe. Construction and operation On 20 May 2025 the project completed its inlet pipeline and began receiving fluoride-bearing wastewater, marking first water. On 16 July 2026 it passed completion acceptance. Once running, it absorbs wastewater from IC companies in the district, sparing them the cost and land of building their own plants, and provides a stable ecological water source for the Pingshan River. Pingshan had already built a wastewater reclamation demonstration works and a biopharmaceutical wastewater plant; this project is the key utility for its IC cluster and an example of Shenzhen using centralised treatment plus reuse to support water-intensive advanced manufacturing.
