About

The Phase I works of the Zuoling No.2 wastewater treatment plant in Wuhan's East Lake High-tech Development Zone reached structural completion on 30 June 2026 and moved into process equipment installation. Under the client's schedule the full system is due to be commissioned by 31 December 2026; as of the public reporting cited here the plant is still under construction and not yet in operation. Scope Zuoling is the eastward industrial extension of Optics Valley, densely packed with high-tech electronics manufacturers whose production drainage has risen in both volume and variability, outpacing the existing collection and treatment system. Zuoling No.2 is planned for an ultimate 200,000 m3/d; the Phase I package now under way provides 65,000 m3/d, the core safeguard for the district's electronics effluent and part of the Yangtze protection network. Wuhan Gehua Construction Investment & Development is the client; WISDRI Urban Environmental Protection Engineering Technology is the EPC contractor. Process The train is long: aerated grit removal, hydrolysis-acidification, AAO biological reaction, high-rate sedimentation, denitrification filtration, catalytic ozonation and sodium hypochlorite disinfection. Hydrolysis-acidification up front improves biodegradability of electronics wastewater, AAO carries nitrogen and carbon removal, and the sedimentation-filtration-ozonation tail provides advanced treatment and a barrier against recalcitrant organics. Design effluent meets Surface Water Class III, with total nitrogen capped at 10 mg/L. Delivery Construction coincided with Wuhan's plum-rain flood season, with sustained rainfall disrupting work fronts and foundation dewatering. The team resequenced the programme and overlapped trades to hold the 30 June structural milestone. Low-energy, instrumented equipment and an integrated smart-water operating platform will be installed in batches; once running, the plant will be dispatched in coordination with the district sewer network and pumping stations to cut pollutant loads entering the Yangtze. Because commissioning has not yet taken place, this case cites no measured effluent data and makes no estimate of investment or start-up date.
