Shuozhou Completes Acceptance of Central Environmental Inspection Rectification Targeting Industrial Park Wastewater Facilities
The Shuozhou municipal government has published notice that item 15 of its third-round central environmental protection inspection rectification tasks — addressing inadequate industrial park wastewater treatment facilities — has been completed and passed verification and acceptance. The public notice runs from 30 October to 8 November 2026. Yingxian county has completed and obtained expert review of its comprehensive assessment report on separate treatment of industrial wastewater received by the municipal wastewater treatment plant.
The Shuozhou municipal government has published a notice stating that item 15 of the city's third-round central ecological and environmental protection inspection rectification tasks has been completed and passed verification and acceptance. The disclosure follows the requirements on acceptance and case closure set out in the Measures for the Rectification of Central Ecological and Environmental Protection Inspection Findings and the related notice on acceptance and case closure.
The task targets inadequate wastewater treatment facilities in industrial parks. Issues identified in the inspection included:
- the Jianhe chemical industry park in Gu county, Linfen, and the Huangfu chemical industry park in Yuncheng had not built dedicated centralised chemical wastewater treatment facilities as required;
- 17 sub-parks, including the new materials industry park of Guangling Economic and Technological Development Zone in Datong, had not completed feasibility assessments of wastewater received into the sewer network and were discharging park wastewater into municipal wastewater treatment plants;
- spot checks also found that the stormwater collection pond at Xiaoyi Economic Development Zone in Lüliang held roughly 90,000 m³ of accumulated wastewater, posing a serious pollution risk.
Shuozhou's corresponding rectification measure required Yingxian county to complete, by October 2025, the preparation and expert review of a Comprehensive Assessment Report on Separate Treatment of Industrial Wastewater Received by the Yingxian Economic and Technological Development Zone Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant, and to submit the report to the provincial ecology and environment department.
According to the completion record, Yingxian finalised the assessment report in October 2025 and completed expert review on 23 April 2026.
The public notice period runs from 30 October to 8 November 2026, a total of 10 days, during which comments may be submitted to the Shuozhou Ecology and Environment Bureau.
The acceptance underscores that construction of dedicated centralised chemical wastewater treatment facilities in chemical parks, feasibility assessment of wastewater received into sewer networks, and standardised management of supporting facilities such as stormwater collection ponds remain priority areas for central environmental inspection — and persistent gaps to be closed in the centralised treatment of industrial park wastewater.
